Has Anyone Had Weight Loss Surgery To "cure" Diabetes?
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have been told that after having this surgery I would no longer have to treat my diabetes. However I am wondering if I would be trading one set of problems for another. Since I have a weight problem being approved is not a problem, but I prefer to do things as naturally as possible. Some insight would be helpful and appreciated.

Need Advice
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hello! I have Type 2 Diabetes and I'm trying to control my blood sugars and lose weight. I lost 12 pounds so far on a weight loss program my insurance set me up with, but it counts calories and not carbs and my doctor wants me to do low-carb. However, he does not recommend the Keto diet as it has a strict regimen. I'm now at a plateau. My last A1C was 6.6, but I was recently diagnosed with a fatty liver. I need help on finding a meal plan that I can easily follow. I spoke to a dietician who… read more

Ozempic
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

Does anyone on here take Ozempic or any of the shots similar to it? If so was wondering if anyone saw the commercial on TV about there are lawsuits against the maker of these drugs. I saw several last night. It says it causes severe stomach issues and malnutrition and severe nausea. I take Ozempic so was wondering if anyone heard about this or take it and have had any problems. Thank you for any information you can provide.

I take it once a week 2mg. I have heard rumors but haven't actually seen the commercial for lawsuits. I have lost 43 lbs from taking it but that wasn't my purpose although I am happy for the loss. I… read more

Do You Take One The New Prescription Drugs That Improve Blood Glucose AND Help People Lose Weight And Do You Recommend Them?
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

My endo appoint is soon and I am thinking of taking one of these medicines, since the "last leg" of my weight loss efforts is going extremely slow. So far, the only caution I recall hearing, is that since the drugs are so new, no one really knows the long-term effects, like what will happen when someone stops taking them-do they gain the weight back? Since I lost the majority of the weight on my own, I would only want to take the med short term to "finish the job". I plan to ask my Endo about… read more
