I am struggling with morning highs and seem to be needing to take much more insulin which I really dont want to do. I go to sleep at night with a certain reading, take insulin Apidra and Lantus and wake up in the morning with the high reading. I have also noticed that the reading does sometimes drop during the course of the night but is high again when I wake up. Also have put on weight. I dont know whether this is a result of wrong eating or whether medication can also stop being as… read more

@A DiabetesTeam Member I tend to agree with you Bill. Probably 90% of those called Type 2 actually have Metabolic Syndrome - that will be the "new term" when everyone starts whining publicly about… read more
For those who have high fbs just remember it has nothing to do with what you ate the night before. Because usually we have a good 3 to 5 hrs between meals while awake, and our numbers are pretty decent in between meals. Also if you test your sugar level after 2 hrs of eating your last meal of the day, you will be at the highest peak at that 2 hr point and then your numbers start going down as per usual. So a meal you ate 8 to 12 hrs before you wake up, if anything should bring your numbers down… read more

I have been told that after having this surgery I would no longer have to treat my diabetes. However I am wondering if I would be trading one set of problems for another. Has anyone had problems with weight gain on insulin (I take Tresiba)? My doctors said it is an unfortunate side effect of insulin. I work out at the gym 3-4 times a week and still gained weight. Have been watching what I eat and mostly drinking water but still gaining instead of losing or maintaining. Any tips would be appreciated.
Cut the carbs, simple carbs are sugars, complex carbs are carbs. Cut the carbs.

One small helping of the wonder fried potato will make you miserable as well as shoot that glucose much higher than a gummy bear. In my case it is. 😁

Apart from anything else it’s too vague and woolly a statement to have any meaning.
I got Cervical Myelopathy in 2002 and was told by the neurologist that I’d “be in a wheelchair in two years”. Now if I wasn’t so resilient I might have given up at that moment and resigned myself to my fate. Instead I lost 3 stone (42lbs) to bring me back to the normal weight category. I also walk a lot and go to the gym where the back extension machine keeps my spine in good shape.
It’s not that I’m saying… read more
