Two reasons you cut out carbs -

First as a diabetic if we limit how much (sugar/starch) we eat then we limit the amount of blood sugar in our system from meals

Second, most people simply don't know that Body Fat is created by Insulin and Blood Sugar, not from eating "fat"

Our system converts all the blood sugar it can into energy but once all the cells are stuffed full it has to deal with the excess blood sugar

So it turns it into body fat - it has to do something with it (and in our case since we still have way too much our sugar levels stay high)u

If you want to lose weight AND control your blood sugar, keep the carbs out of your mouth

There will be less sugar to float around in your blood and less to be converted to body fat

Fat and Protein that we consume does not become "body fat" - only Carbs do

The simple answer is "because you are eating too much"

And I'm not trying to be judgmental or funny or ignorant

Each of us has a "daily calorie requirement"

For the average adult, including myself, it's about 2000 calories

Some (track athlete) may need hundreds more, work behind a desk you may only need 1800 calories/day

If YOU can't lose weight you are eating "too much food for YOUR needs"

You can't compare yourself to Bob or Mary

Yes, you may have a slow metabolism, an adrenal, thyroid, or pituitary disorder that reduces your "needs" making it more difficult

But if you really want to lose weight simply cut back on "everything" you eat - reduce the quantity of "everything" until you start to lose and then keep it up until you hit target weight

Then you sit with a nutritionist/dietitian and determine your "actual needs" and put healthy food back into your mix

Last year some dude lost 80 pounds in 100 days eating every meal at McDonalds

His trick - ordered the meal, cut everything exactly in half and tossed half in the garbage - it's not WHAT but HOW MUCH you eat that effects your weight

EVERYBODY can lose weight - body fat comes from what we stuff in our mouths, not outerspace - if you are overweight You put that there and you eat less you will burn it up

One small helping of the wonder fried potato will make you miserable as well as shoot that glucose much higher than a gummy bear. In my case it is. 😁
