Members discussed how uric acid is a waste product that can cause kidney stones and gout, sharing that drinking large amounts of water daily (not just a glass) is crucial for prevention. Several members described their personal experiences, including one who had three kidney stone episodes in their forties that eventually stopped, another whose uric acid normalized after a kidney transplant, and one who has maintained elevated levels for decades without developing gout thanks to staying very hydrated and physically active. A recurring theme was the particular importance for people with diabetes to keep uric acid levels in check, as high levels can worsen insulin resistance and increase the risk of diabetic complications like chronic kidney disease and retinopathy.

As a Diabetic you don't want to have high levels of Uric Acid

Stones are not unique to Diabetes but Diabetic Retinopathy and Diabetic induced Chronic Kidney Disease are, and high level of uric acid drastically increase your risk for either - it also increases insulin resistance particularly effecting the muscles (who are sugar hogs and we need them or our sugars would be even higher = microvascular complications like CKD and Retinopathy - and the wheel goes round..)

In my forties I had three incidents of kidney stones and for some reason they stopped happening. I don't have much information but Google is loaded with dietary advice. Take care, Joyce.
