Members shared varied experiences about not feeling hungry in the morning, with several noting that timing and content of the previous night's meal, medications (especially antidepressants and metformin), and conditions like gastroparesis can all affect morning appetite. Many community members described their practical morning routines, including eating small portions like fruit, toast with banana or avocado, yogurt, or protein shakes to ensure they can take their medications, with some choosing to skip breakfast entirely and eat later in the day. A recurring theme was the importance of listening to your body's signals, consulting with your doctor about medication side effects, and finding what works best for your individual needs rather than forcing yourself to eat when you're not hungry.

I never feel hungry first thing in the morning but I eat a yogurt to mitigate the effects of the metformin I take. Later on in the morning I can actually face real food.

Depression drugs can do that. If it’s slowing your digestion it may explain why your not hungry in the morning. I take Calm at night helps my constipation and my muscle cramps and restless leg. It’s a form of magnesium that is metabolized easily.
