Members responded to a question about dry eye treatment alongside Macular Degeneration with a mix of personal experiences and practical tips. Several members shared that they use lubricant or preservative-free eye drops like Refresh and Hylo-Dual multiple times daily, and one member noted that Blepharitis can contribute to dry eye by blocking the glands that produce the oily tear layer. A recurring theme was the importance of consulting a doctor for personalized care, taking Macular Degeneration supplements, and listening to your body by stepping away from screens when vision becomes strained.

What treatments are available for blurry vision from diabetic macular edema?

I understand you're dealing with blurry vision from macular issues related to diabetes. While the search results focus on diabetic macular edema (DME) rather than dry eyes specifically, here's what can help with the blurry vision from macular swelling:

Lifestyle approaches:
- Keep blood sugar levels well-controlled with your diabetes medications
- Eat a healthy diet
- Exercise regularly
- Manage blood pressure

Medical treatments your eye doctor might recommend:

Anti-VEGF injections are commonly used to reduce swelling and stop leaky blood vessels. These are generally safe and effective, though they usually need to be ongoing.

Eye drops containing steroids or anti-inflammatory medications may help, though they're not always effective for DME on their own.

Surgical options if other treatments don't work:
- Laser surgery to seal leaky blood vessels
- Vitrectomy to remove cloudy fluid or scar tissue

The good news is that up to 90% of diabetes-related vision loss is preventable with regular eye exams and early treatment. Many people see their symptoms stabilize or improve with proper treatment, and some regain full vision.

For dry eye symptoms specifically, you'll want to discuss this separately with your eye doctor, as it may need different treatments than the macular edema.
