I hadn't taken bg readings throughout the day for months now but decided to today. I am really surprised by my numbers especially since I lost power in a storm, got nervous and ended up eating 183 g of carbs today. The readings I got were
9am out of bed =102
noon - =104
2:30pm - 2.5 hrs after lunch = 83
6:35pm -before dinner =105 (this was when I lost elec power and snacked big-time)
9:30pm -2 hrs after dinner = 91

Even if in remission we need to live as though we sre not to keep from falling out of remission
An A1c will need to be in the normal range for you to be considered in remission
Good morning from South Jersey @A DiabetesTeam Member.
Remission involves no diabetes medications.
It also involves low A1C for 2 consecutive tests..
For example take my case study.
I was diagnosed with diabetes February 2021. A1C 13.5. Protocol says long acting insulin, quick acting insulin, and metformin.
I negotiated a 3 month reprieve from diabetes medications. I do an ultralow carb right eating lifestyle. My A1C at 3.5 months was 4.9. My next A1C was 5.3, then my last A1C was 5.1. I am in remission but I am and always will be diabetic.
I also dropped 62 pounds from 240 to 178 and my BMI is down to 24.8.
If I were not diabetic, I could eat half a Sicilian pizza or 2-3 bowls of rice and have normal 2 hour numbers.
I have to watch everything I put in my mouth, I have to do the hard work, the heavy lifting.
Yes I am in remission,
Yes I am still diabetic.
For you @A DiabetesTeam Member, your pancreas is still doing good. You are not at the point many of us have progressed to. You are doing many things right for you.
Many doing medications can't skip or delay meals. I can delay or skip meals, but I do no diabetes medications.
Baby steps.
Cutting carbs.
Dropping pounds.
Battling every day.
Relentless in your journey.
You got this.
Baby steps.
@A DiabetesTeam Member hello to you from sunny Maroochydore and my doctor has me on a care plan and my 2 blood analysts 6 months apart and my own checks confirmed that I am in remission as he confirmed that I don’t need to take Metformin 500mg. I would still check with your doctor to be certain. Remission is not cured from Diabetes and we still need to be careful with our blood sugar levels hugs from Judyxx
@A DiabetesTeam Member hello to you from Maroochydore and I have a Diabetes care plan with my doctor and after my February blood tests results this year he told me that I don’t need to take the Metformin 500 mg now.
I believe that I am in remission now and I try very hard to keep to my regular eating habits but occasionally I have a meal out and today I have enjoyed a Roast Pork meal with baked potato and pumpkin plus cooked peas and carrots 🥕 and sweet red cabbage peas gravy , apple sauce and a little piece of pork crackling. I enjoyed it very much and I didn’t have to do any washing up! Not a bad meal fir $15!
Hugs from Judyxx
