I have eaten much more carbs restricted for almost 6 years than keto.
But I am not your average bear. I come in and out of ketosis on a regular basis. I'm almost always in ketosis.
My Bride tells me about my ketone breath almost daily. So I break the cycle 1-2 times a week by eating a serving of fruit.
But since my diabetes journey requires me to use medications or restrict my lifestyle to 2-3 net carbs per meal. I choose no diabetes medications.
I have no problem with maintaining my numbers.
Oral prednisone on occasion make my numbers sky high.
I am technically not in Clinical Remission. But my numbers are more than there with no diabetes medications.
I am living my best life with diabetes. Traveling almost full time again.
I have noticed that when I am above 11,000 feet elevation, I am blessed with short windedness. So my albuterol rescue inhaler becomes my friend.
I repeat I am not your average bear.
Thank you!π₯°
Cutting carbs to quickly like the keto diet calls for, can cause ketosis. You should always get your doctors recommendations
Great question! The ketogenic (keto) diet can be beneficial for managing diabetes, but it's not the right fit for everyone. It's always best to speak with a healthcare provider before making any major dietary changes.
