I have had difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep for years. I have had testing for apnea, it was clear. I’ve tried so many different techniques prior to bedtime. It certainly affects my sugar levels. Very frustrating. Any other ideas.

Members shared personal strategies for managing chronic sleep difficulties, with many emphasizing the importance of cutting out or limiting caffeine, particularly switching to decaffeinated coffee or green tea earlier in the day. Several members described soothing bedtime routines that have helped them sleep better, including taking evening walks, warm baths with calming music or candles, drinking chamomile or other herbal teas, and taking melatonin as a natural sleep aid. A recurring theme was the need to experiment with different approaches and consult with doctors to rule out diabetes-related sleep issues, with one member noting their son, a sleep specialist, had provided helpful guidance they were willing to share with the community.

This may not work for you, but lately I listen to old radio programs on my Kindle (Jack Benny, mysteries, etc.) Often I feel comfortable, and fall asleep. I've tried music but prefer hearing conversation.

I gradually switched to decaf coffee and green tea and a nice long walk before bed. Now I get the best sleep ever. Also, a candle lit bubble bath helps too with calming music or a book.
