I found out I had gout in my right foot, last Thursday. It was the weirdest thing; woke up and foot hurt like crazy. Went to work, only to turn around and go back home. Then it got swollen and had fun trying to walk as it hurt so much

Members responded to someone newly diagnosed with gout in their foot, sharing personal experiences and a wide range of dietary approaches that have helped them manage flare-ups and prevent attacks. Several members recommended natural remedies like cherry juice, apple cider vinegar with honey, drinking plenty of water to flush uric acid, and identifying personal food triggers such as citrus fruits, strawberries, pineapple, shellfish, pork, and tomatoes. A recurring theme was understanding that gout involves consistently high uric acid levels and limiting purines in the diet, while also recognizing that what works varies from person to person and professional medical guidance is important.

Might try drinking 1/2 cup of pure cherry juice daily for the gout. Have talked with people who swear this keeps the gout away

I have gout in my one foot and it makes my foot unbearable even though I take allopurinol for it daily. It is very difficult with the neuropathy.

Gout has lots of old wives tales and well intentioned miscalculated causes.

If you get gout you have it all the time.

An attack is caused by accumulated build up of PURINES (not acids) Purines are in every living thing (DNA) but the foods with excessive Purines are shellfish, pork and offal. It can be aggravated by alcohol and maybe caffeine.

People think anything with acid in it can cause gout or fix it but this is not true. If you have gout you have it all the time and a small build up of purines from your diet will cause an attack.

It is very much like T2 we are fine with carbs until we reach our limit and then a bit more and we go very high very fast.

You could say having gout is a low tolerance to purines It is all OK until you exceed your limit then crystals form and scratch around in a joint then you produce extra fluid to lubricate the joint and when the becomes excessive it all swells up causing pain.

Look up Purines and gout in the Macquarie dictionary - it will tell you succinctly.

You can get anti inflammatory drugs that treat the symptom not the cause. You can treat the cause by not eating too much purines.

gout is horrible i know I had it since i was 16 and way before i became diabetic. Its really important to drink lots of water to help flush the uric acid crystals out of your body and if possible try to work out what your trigger is, mine is any citrus friut and strawberries and pineapple, so i never eat them. For some people its prawns(shrimp) and other things like tomatoes. I use mostly low acid tomatoes like the Roma variety (egg shaped). Good luck.

Hi. My husband suffered with Gout for many years. I bought a booklet called "Curing Arthritis the drug free way" It said to take apple cider vinegar and black molasses every day. He eventually stopped the molasses and just took the apple cider vinegar within months his gout vanished and he may have had a touch of once in 10 years. He does not take the vinegar anymore either, I think he took it for 6-12 months. He added honey to it but its still vile. I have been taking it in a little water as I heard it lowers sugar levels if taken before bed. don't take it neat as it literally took my breath away!!!!! it is horrible but if it helps go for it!.
