Treseba Side Effects
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi, wondering if anyone is on Treseba (the long acting insulin) and if so did you have any "undocumented" side effects?

I have been on Treseba now for almost 6 months along with taking Rapid insulin at meals.

I am noticing that I have had to increase my before bedtime Treseba dose to more than what I was taking on 50/50 and it doesn't seem to be managing my AIC levels as well as my 50/50 insulin did.

I also have had feeling of shortness of breath at times so my Ventalin usuage has also… read more

Is Sliding Scale For Tresiba Acceptable?
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am doing a sliding scale with Tresiba long acting insulin. I tried to obtain an appointment with my Endocrinologist but the receptionist wasn’t allowing me to connect with him.

A DiabetesTeam Member

I spoke to my endocrinologist on the phone and decrease or increase my amount of Tresiba every 5 days instead of each day. I originally took 120 Tresiba and have now cut it down to 80 Tresiba per day… read more

Lantus Vs The Other Long Lasting Insulins
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm on Lantus-20 units at night, Trulicity .75, and Novolog sliding scale. My insurance will no longer pay for Lantus. The alternates are Basaglar, Levemir, and Tresiba. Which one is the best? I hear there is a trial going on for a weekly long lasting insulin. Any thoughts?

A DiabetesTeam Member

If you are otherwise happy with the Lantus then Basaglar is "identical" - same insulin, same formula, same production

Lantus is made by Sanofi and Basaglar is made by Mylan - so simply two different… read more

Weight Gain On Insulin
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone had problems with weight gain on insulin (I take Tresiba)? My doctors said it is an unfortunate side effect of insulin. I work out at the gym 3-4 times a week and still gained weight. Have been watching what I eat and mostly drinking water but still gaining instead of losing or maintaining. Any tips would be appreciated.
