I would totally forget when first diagnosed. I started using a pill organizer, but my meds changes so often that isn't an option any longer. I downloaded an app that reminds me of pill time. That is great Paul, we learn to adjust and adapt. Blessings my friend 🧑

Forgetting a dose of diabetes medication happens to many people β€” you're definitely not alone! The most important thing is to have a plan in place before it happens.

Here's what's generally recommended:

- Check the medication guide or packaging β€” most medications include specific instructions for missed doses
- Take it as soon as you remember β€” unless it's almost time for your next dose
- Never double up β€” taking two doses at once can cause dangerous blood sugar swings, including low blood sugar (hypoglycemia)
- Monitor your blood sugar more closely after a missed dose to watch for any changes
- Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you're unsure what to do for a specific medication

Different diabetes medications have different rules, so it's worth asking your healthcare team for personalized guidance on each one you take. To avoid missing doses in the future, here are some helpful strategies:

- Set a daily alarm on your phone
- Use a pill organizer to track what's been taken
- Download a medication tracking app
- Ask a family member to help remind you
- Keep a journal logging times and blood sugar readings

Many DiabetesTeam members find that pairing medication with a daily habit β€” like a meal β€” makes it much easier to stay consistent.

I was partly organized but making misses, so now when I sit down at the table area in the morning, I would have a saucer where I start putting the pills to swallow for the mrng routine. Later pills are put in the organizer and all at the table area so I remember. My wife and I help check each other while at the table, works fine for the past few years. Happy weekend!!!

@A DiabetesTeam Member, at the start of my testing and medications, I admit I was missing out as it was not a habit I have yet to get into the β€œgroove β€œ. Since I do drink vitamins and supplements on a regular basis in the morning, I incorporated taking other medications same as my morning meds and others I put a timer on my mobile to remind me what else are needed during the day/night. If I still miss something, I log it down accordingly for just in case. Then discuss with my doctors and even my family members to help out. It gives them a chance to β€œscold” me πŸ˜†πŸ˜πŸ˜Ž. Have a great weekend everyone.
