Insulin has 2 jobs.

1) Insulin metabolizes glucose for our daily energy needs.

Glucose comes from the digestion of simple carbs... Sugars.
And from the digestion of complex carbs... carbs.
Refined carbs are converted to glucose almost as fast as sugars.
Whole carbs digest slower. But still have just as many carbs.

2) Insulin converts any carbs not needed for daily energy... straight into fat. So added weight results from eating too many carbs when you have enough Insulin in your system. It does this to prepare for famine times.

So simply stated...
Cut your carbs till you no longer are gaining weight. Then slowly cut them a little more and you will begin to drop weight.

Is this what you needed to know.

I'm not on insulin. But I know ppl that are. They always talk about weight gain with higher carb intake. Diabetes Team was spot on with their answer. Good luck.
