They work in pretty different ways. The food order idea is more about slowing how quickly glucose enters your system. Metformin works inside the body by reducing how much glucose the liver releases and helping with insulin response. So one is about digestion timing, the other is about how the body handles glucose overall. Are you comparing them out of curiosity or noticing something in your readings?

How does metformin work to control type 2 diabetes?

Metformin helps manage blood sugar in several important ways:

- Reduces liver sugar production - It lowers how much sugar your liver makes, so less circulates in your blood
- Improves insulin sensitivity - It helps your body use insulin better, making it easier for sugar from food to move into your cells
- Slows sugar absorption - It slows down how quickly sugar from food gets absorbed, which helps reduce spikes after meals

Together, these effects help keep blood sugar levels lower and more stable throughout the day, especially after eating.

As a bonus, metformin doesn't usually cause weight gain and rarely causes low blood sugar. Some people even experience modest weight loss, which can be helpful since extra weight can make blood sugar harder to control.

Metformin is one of the most studied and trusted diabetes medications, which is why it's often the first medication doctors recommend after diet and exercise changes.

The difference I see is metformin has been proven to work and this hasn't yet. They both are synthesized from a plant.
