A member asked whether a 7.5 blood sugar reading at 11am was in a good range after eating avocado toast for breakfast around 8am. Several members agreed the number was a little high for a 3-hour post-meal reading, suggesting it may reflect carb intake or stress levels, and encouraged more regular 2-hour post-meal testing to spot trends. A recurring theme was the value of consistent monitoring, watching carb portions, staying hydrated, and managing stress to help keep blood sugar in a healthy range.

Good morning from Charlottesville, Virginia.

Visiting our neice and her family. Of course no one else is stirring. Not even their furry child Maeve.

She loves me. I give her the lead. She goes to all the places she normally does not get to go.

When someone else tries to walk her, she comes to me.

So she gives me my exercise in 45 to 75 minute increments. Everyone else comes back in 10 minutes.

She loves me.

Seems maybe a tad high 3 hours post eating such a light breakfast. But not high enough to worry. Maybe try a few two hour post meal blood glucose tests and see if it is a trend . My glucose sometimes goes up post exercise. But comes down after I hydrate with water.

@A DiabetesTeam Member hello I ate my breakfast about 8am and I forgot to take my blood sugar before breakfast so I took it late morning and I don’t usually take my blood sugar mid morning. I have just enjoyed my lunch today
How is everything going with you today?

Is a blood sugar reading of 7.5 at 11am in a good range?

A blood sugar level of 7.5 mmol/L (135 mg/dL) at 11am is slightly above the typical target range for someone with diabetes.

For people with diabetes taking medications, the recommended fasting blood sugar range is usually between 80-130 mg/dL (4.4-7.2 mmol/L). Since 11am isn't a fasting time, different guidelines apply.

After eating, blood sugar should ideally be less than 180 mg/dL (10 mmol/L). Your reading of 7.5 mmol/L falls comfortably below this threshold, which is good news.

However, the timing matters. If you haven't eaten breakfast yet, this reading is a bit high. If you ate within the past two hours, it's within an acceptable range.

Keep in mind that your doctor may have set personalized targets for you based on your specific situation, age, and other health factors. If you're consistently seeing readings around this level at similar times of day, it's worth discussing with your healthcare provider to see if any adjustments to your treatment plan might help.
