Members shared a wide variety of small, non-food habits that help them feel more in control of their diabetes, with daily movement emerging as the most popular strategy, including walking outdoors, dancing to music, light weightlifting, yoga, and gym classes. Several members described how tracking blood sugar through finger pricks or continuous glucose monitors helps them understand patterns, adjust behaviors in real time, and communicate better with their doctors, with one member noting how a CGM revealed that lowering exercise intensity prevented blood sugar rebounds. A recurring theme was the mental and emotional benefits of staying engaged through hobbies like painting, Lego building, fidget toys, and computer games to reduce stress and avoid mindless snacking, alongside the power of stubbornness, positivity, and spending time in nature or with pets to maintain both physical and emotional resilience.

@A DiabetesTeam Member I'm a very big muncher, Jim. I try to stay away from the junk food but the last thing I'm going to munch on is a carrot. Like you, if I'm involved in something I won't munch.

@Leg As Woody Allen once said, "Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not really after you."

I'm aware of everything I put in my body. Also, it's my passion to exercise every single day. It doesn't have to be much but if I just sit on the couch I can feel the blood pooling. Of course we call that paranoia but it's a healthy paranoia.

20 minutes walking and very light dumbbell exercises everyday. Keeping in touch with family and friends. Keeping up with my hobbies.
