The decision to switch insulin types should always be made with your healthcare provider, as they can evaluate your specific needs and blood sugar control patterns. Long-acting insulin (like Lantus) and rapid-acting insulin (like Novolog) work together - one providing background control and the other managing mealtime spikes.

If your current insulin regimen isn't helping you reach your blood sugar goals, there are several options to consider:
- Adjusting your current insulin doses
- Changing the timing of your injections
- Exploring different insulin delivery methods like an insulin pump Some DiabetesTeam members have found success with insulin pumps, which can provide more precise insulin delivery. One member reported their A1c dropped from 7.1 to 6.0 using a pump. However, what works best varies by individual. Schedule time with your doctor to discuss your goals and explore whether adjusting your current regimen or switching to a different insulin delivery method might help improve your blood sugar control.

@A DiabetesTeam Member you could certainly discuss going on a mixed insulin such as 70/30 Humulin or Novolog which would replace the two separate insulins you are currently using
