Hello Jeremie. DiabetesTeam gave you a great response. I keep glucose tablets on hand for the lows. Lows do suck. It sounds like you need a medication adjustment.

Question: What can I do to prevent low blood sugar while taking insulin medications?

Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) can be concerning and uncomfortable. Since you're taking both Novolog and Lantus, it's important to work closely with your healthcare provider to ensure your insulin doses are properly balanced with your daily activities and eating patterns. Consider these important safety measures:

1. Keep a glucagon kit on hand, especially if you experience hypoglycemia unawareness
2. Monitor your blood sugar regularly, particularly during afternoon and evening hours
3. Work with your healthcare provider to adjust your medication dosage if needed
4. Maintain consistent meal times and portion sizes
5. Track your exercise as physical activity can affect blood sugar levels Many DiabetesTeam members have shared similar experiences with low blood sugar. Creating simple, sustainable habits around meal timing, medication schedules, and regular blood glucose monitoring can help you better manage these episodes. Remember that managing diabetes is a journey of continuous learning and adjustment.

My favourite place here is the Alexandra Headlands Surf Lifesavers clubhouse and the view from upstairs is beautiful of the Pacific Ocean East Coast here and it’s just 1.3 kilometres away from my home and it’s my go to place on Sundays for the free music afternoon and all my friends that I have made there say hello to me
