Members answered the question about their diagnosis year and type, sharing stories that spanned from 1981 to 2024, with the majority diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Several members shared that significant weight loss, diet changes, and exercise helped them lower their A1C numbers without medication, with some going from high-risk levels to near-normal ranges. A recurring theme was the role of family history and genetics in their diagnoses, along with encouragement for one another to stay motivated and take care of their health.

I was 185 pounds when diagnosed, currently 130, at 5 ft tall. My Dr insisted I gain some pounds back, as you to keep sickness down. I'm like you, go figure😁

@A DiabetesTeam Member I too was 185 lbs when I was diagnosed. I’m 5’ 6 3/4 . I dropped 45 pounds and fluctuate between 140 and 145. Generally in the middle of those two numbers. My husband hates me being this thin but knows I need to do it for my health.
