Hi Jeanett
Working in a highly stressful environment or a highly stressful job, is tough!
What worked for me were:
- Celebrate the things you did well for the day. Don't only see and feel the hard part of work.
- Take time to relax when the day is done. A good movie and/ or a relaxing chat with your partner do wonders.
- A walk in nature whenever you can, sooth the soul.
I wish you success on your journey .

Question: How can I manage my diabetes better in a stressful work environment that's affecting my glucose levels and energy?
Stress hormones can directly impact insulin function and blood sugar control. When you're stressed, your body releases hormones that can make glucose management more challenging, even with a strict diet. This creates a frustrating cycle where stress affects blood sugar, and unstable blood sugar levels can increase irritability and fatigue. Here are some practical strategies to help:
1. Try interval eating - eating small meals or snacks every 3-4 hours to stabilize blood sugar
2. Include protein, fruits, or vegetables in your snacks
3. Take short walking breaks after meals
4. Consider working with a counselor or coach for stress management
5. Prioritize sleep - poor sleep can lead to higher fasting blood sugars
Remember, it's completely normal to struggle with diabetes management during stressful times. Many DiabetesTeam members have found that professional support helped them regain control of both their health and stress levels.
