That is a pretty crappy statistic but unfortunately it's true
Type 2 Diabetes in particular is a leading cause of CKD along with High Blood Pressure or Hypertension
And unfortunately "many" Type 2's, because it's a metabolic disorder, also have challenges with Blood Pressure as well as Cholesterol and Triglycerides - many of us actually have "Metabolic Syndrome" - Type 2 plus "any" of the above
The Kidneys are part of the Micro-Vascular System and that (system) gets damaged any time our blood… read more

I disagree. In the UK we let prejudice become rampant in the police force and most people defended this by saying it was only a few "bad apples". It wasn't until it became apparent that more and more people had bad experiences especially women that action is now being taken.
In the safety critical industries bad practices that lead to injury and death are punished by gaol sentences. Human nature is such that people will take short cuts or not do their job properly or just plain careless because they know they can get away with it eg no custodial sentences.
There are *far too many* instances of people dying or being injured by malpractice by doctors and nurses. Often the excuse is that they made mistakes due to fatigue and allegedly working long hours. The rule in safety critical industries is that if you are so tired that you cannot operate safely then you are legally bound not to go to work - end of story.
In the National Health Service in most cases you cannot be forced to work overtime. The non overtime week is 37.5 hours per week and anything above that is voluntary overtime. In the instance where the contract demands overtime you cannot work for more than 48 hrs a week on average https://www.gov.uk/maximum-weekly-working-hours....
Many nurses choose to work overtime in order to boost their meagre earnings which is understandable in one sense but deplorable in another sense as they are putting patients' lives at risk. Gaoling nurses and doctors even if they use fatigue as a defence would soon change the situation.
This might sound harsh but how would you feel if a loved one died or was injured because of a nurse or doctor's carelessness whether it was induced by fatigue or otherwise.
It's time we redressed this imbalance before we or one of our loved ones become a casualty.

Careless and incompetent doctors and nurses are a problem the world over and this won't be resolved until we start putting into gaol those people. Financial penalties are not enough as they are covered by their liability insurance.
I used to work for a safety critical organisation and if I endangered the life of our customers or our colleagues I could end up in prison.
If I caused the death of anyone through my carelessness then gaol was inevitable. It appears that this is rare in the medical industry (I refuse to call it a profession) where money seems to be the main motivator to be a doctor not vocation.
The cases of neglect, carelessness and incompetence seem endless. I have so many experiences that I've got from others and also my own experiences.
When is the elephant in the room going to be acknowledged and drastic action taken against these people?
Some of them is the key, Amy. Some. Let's not let paranoia restrict our options. It's our responsibility to do the research. Look at user reviews, etc.
I haven't seen what you're saying Leg. Most (not all) of my personal care physicians have been competent and compassionate. I would kind of agree with you on the psychiatric end though. I have often been in power struggles with my psychiatrists over meds and med dosages. I have also been met with rigid attitudes by my therapists who refused to see outside the box. That has been my experience.
This I know, as I have that as well, a dr took out my gall bladder,& in process, cut into my liver. And bcuz of that had to put a stint in my pancreas,& so now I also have type 2 diabetes, chronic kidney disease,& non- alcoholic fatty liver disease.& along w many other health issues& problems. I was not told that when he had to fix the cut he made in my liver, & had to put a stint in my pancreas that this would cause me so many health problems later on. Diabetes 2,& so many, many other issues. My attorney says I have a definite lawsuit. But idk, if I want to seeing how drs can do no wrong in their eyes. After this dr did all this to me, he retired and moved to Florida. & now my life is in pieces, but I thank God every day for waking me up. No matter tge pain,& health struggles i have. Sorry for going on$ on. Once I start texting, I can just keep going!! lol please excuse me y’all!! Have a Blessed day!
