Members thoughtfully responded to a question about whether natural peanut butter lowers blood sugar, clarifying that while it doesn't reduce glucose levels, it also doesn't spike them due to its protein, healthy fats, and fiber content. Several members shared their favorite ways to enjoy peanut butter as a diabetes-friendly snack, including pairing it with celery, raw carrots, or apples, while emphasizing the importance of portion control since even natural varieties can affect blood sugar if consumed in large amounts. A recurring theme was choosing all-natural peanut butter made from only peanuts, watching carb content carefully, and considering organic options to avoid pesticides that may contribute to peanut sensitivities.

I suspect it depends what you spread it on. If on celery, it is probably really a terrific snack.

Peanut butter pushes up my bgs although I've not made any myself so that might be different although I doubt it as peanuts are high in carbs - 10g per 100g and that's why I don't eat them as nuts but choose walnuts which are only 3.3g per 100g.

Portion control is paramount..I eat no salt/sugar added peanut butter every day..just peanuts....lotsa good things in it...If I don't monitor my portions it jacks up my blood.. Fwiw I only buy organic p.b.... peanuts are heavily sprayed with a variety of pesticides.. It's very possible that this is the cause of many peoples "alergy" to peanuts although other health factors could play a role also.
