I have been controlling my diabetes for over 2 years ONLY by diet. I avoid rice, wheat, sugar, potatoes, beans and corn. I aim to eat under 30 grams of carbs a day. No between meal snacking. My last A1C was 5.6.

I gave up fried foods, sugar, I love vegetable crisps, I've added some vegetarian n vegan foods to my diet for variety but I'm neither vegetarian or vegan. So far the plant based foods I've tried have been pretty nasty. I love beans and pulses.

Dietary advice: Low carbohydrate diet and daily brisk walk for half an hour. Avoid sugar and salt which is toxic to the kidney. This is my way and I reverse my diabetes by losing weight and eat less. Dr Hassoon AL-sarraf
