Explain correlation between diabetes and taste

My taste is strange. Pop taste flat. Water is strange. Other foods are weird. Not tasting normal. I usually drink sprite or Mello yellow but both have changed taste. It tastes sour or bitter. Flat in some ways but more like bitter instead of their real flavor
