Why Am I So Tired At Mid-day?
I often feel extremely tired between 12 and 2 p.m.
It could be a few reasons that have nothing to do with Diabetes
As we get older our metabolism, which naturally slows down after (noon) becomes more pronounced and we feel tired
As a Diabetic depending on how often you eat you may be simply running out of fuel.
Then if we eat a large lunch it can cause a condition called Postprandial Somnolence (or Food Coma) which is worse for us because we were already running really low on energy.
Our digestive system gets overloaded by eating and since we didn't have the energy to process the meal in the first place, we get drowsy
More consistent blood sugar control can help with this.
Until a couple years back I worked in a very physically demanding job and it was tough since as Type 2's we already lack energy since our system isn't working properly.
Add in a heavy workload and it can lead to significant fatigue
To combat that I switched from eating 3 to 4 meals per day spaced at (about) 4 hour intervals
The keeps my energy levels "more consistent" - I don't mean I have way more energy it's really more stable - and when that is the case you can learn to pace yourself better
Instead of seeing a big rise in blood sugar (energy) once I eat and then running the tank dry a couple hours before I eat again (6 or 7 hour intervals), I "top up the tank" every 4 hours - so never run super high or super low - just kinda cruise along with decent and predictable energy levels all day
Thank you Graham I will certainly try it🤗
I experienced ence mid afternoon slump🤔but do not nap as I'm too busy to with grandkids😊I don't have foggiest as to why I just thought it's my age.
I find as I get older I need a nap in the afternoon it's perfect normal especially if you have a disturbed night
Good Day Everyone, Lately I Been Feeling Tired And I Don't Know Why Do Some Of You Feel That Way ♥️
