Has Anyone Tried Admelog Vs Humalog
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have been diabetic for almost 30 yrs. I take 4 metformin and 50 units of Basaglar plus was taking 3 injections a day of Humalog which was keeping my sugars mostly in range and now the Dr put me on Admelog which he says is the same as humalog but my sugars have gone high again and am getting side affects..anyone else have this problem. Thank you

Just had a read on the two and can't see why you would react differently.

Admelog is "exactly" the same insulin as Humalog - not a single different ingredient.

Both are "lispro" insulin, so lab grown human insulin.

Admelog is just the "more generic" (but not a true generic) version - waited until whatever patent protection ran out on Humalog and cooked up the exact same recipe but it's cheaper because "someone else" figured out how to make it.

Aside from the pen that dispenses it (the producers own product) and the size of vials/pens available the only other difference between the two is the price - with the Admelog being less expensive by about 15%.

(Health Canada or your Provincial Drug regulators may be "pushing this" since it would save "them" money for any covered by the various government drug plans - if you are on private insurance then you can always ask your Doc to switch you back)
