Hello everybody I have type 2 diabetes coming on for 6 years now and doctors took me off medication a year ago because my sugar levels were going really well until yesterday night they were 12.5 and then in the morning it was 9.5 later this afternoon around 1 it was 7.2 now it's Skyped backup to 13.2 what am I doing wrong maybe it's the overstressed on me being super tired I do not know I have washed my hands drink so many glasses a water I don't know what else and I'm not eating bad foods
When you are having high numbers consistantly over a couple of days, try to find the cause and correct it as soon as possible. By high numbers, I mean numbers above 139(7.8).
Diabetes is progressive so I suggest trying this. Cut out all added sugars in food and drink. Portion control, I plate all my food on a 7 inch plate.
Half plate very low carb vegetables.
Quarter plate protein, <3-4 ounces.
Quarter plate high fiber carbs or a serving of diabetes friendly whole fruits.
See if that helps.
Cut your carbs:
Breakfast 6
Lunch 12
Dinner 12
for a few days.
If you don't start to gain control in a few days, talk to your doctor asap and get this taken care of.
For me, external factors can have a bad effect on my numbers. Steroids, flu shot, covid 2x, stress, lack of my regular exercise, heat or cold, chonic pain, emotional, physical, mental, stress, missing a dose of medications, even missing some supplements, etc.
Each of my so far 5 covid jabs so far has skewed my numbers upward for weeks. New medications side effects can mess with my numbers. Cancer treatments, treatments for other diagnoses.
So, what I am saying is, the cause of higher numbers can be a list longer than both of our arms and legs. I try to make one change at a time, and let thigs settle, so I can pinpoint the cause of those numbers.
Sometimes, if it is just a day or so, and I can't pinpoint the cause, I just have to let it go.
I personally am limited in my daily carb loading to 15-20 carbs, 5-8 per meal.
Most diabetics can handle 100-130 carbs spread equitable throughout 3-5 meals and 1-2 snacks daily.
Some can tolerate <80,
Some <5,
Some <30,
And then there is me.
Did you know that a normal serving of carbs is 15 carbs.
15 carbs =
1 slice bread,
1/3 cup pasta,
1/3 cup potatoes,
1/3 cup rice,
Even less of cakes, etc.
Processed carbs metabolize to glucose as fast as sugars.
Good luck.
Tell your doctor what's going on and take your readings with you. You should be getting your A1c regularly so the doc can review it.
