Hi guys what does it mean when my meter says hi. Is it being nice or is it telling me that it is high

If you are able, exercise
Especially anything that causes sweating. Sweating is the quickest way to lower it

Ha — if only it were just being friendly! When a glucose meter displays "HI," it actually means your blood sugar is too high to measure — typically above 600 mg/dL. This is a serious reading that needs attention right away.

Here's what to do:

Ha — if only it were just being friendly! When a glucose meter displays "HI," it actually means your blood sugar is too high to measure — typically above 600 mg/dL. This is a serious reading that needs attention right away.

Here's what to do:

- Don't panic, but act quickly — contact your doctor or seek medical help immediately
- Stay hydrated — drink water if you're able to
- Check for ketones if you have a ketone testing kit
- Do not exercise, as this can sometimes raise blood sugar further in this situation There are also a few things that can cause a falsely high reading, such as:

- Sugar or food residue on your fingers
- Expired or improperly stored test strips
- A low meter battery
- Extreme temperatures affecting your meter or strips

Try washing and drying your hands thoroughly, then retest. If the "HI" reading appears again, treat it as a real high and seek medical guidance immediately. Don't wait on this one!
