What Is Your Go-to Snack When Your Blood Sugar Is Low?
I met a lady who regularly had hypos she used jelly baby’s as they contain 5grams of sugar per jelly baby it was easy for her and the nurse to keep track of how much she had taken by how many jelly babies she had eaten.🙂
I was told if you want something sweet you need something protein to eat. We use Ancient Grain bread and have a peanut butter sandwich or grab a boiled egg out of the fridge. If we are out, we go and grab a quick sandwich like ham, tomato and cheese. and if necessary, have a small drink of coca cola. We prefer bottled water, coffee or tea but sometimes we cant get that especially if we are travelling. We eat at 7 am so we eat again at 10.30 or 11 am. usually a cheese and tomato sandwich. 3pm we have coffee and 2 plain marie biscuits, at 6pm we have our dinner and we go through to the morning. If we get up during the night it is for a peanut butter sandwich. We try to make our suppers filling i.e. beef and bean soup, lentil and carrot soup, curried mince and rice, chicken and different salads and so on. hope this helps. We cook all our food where possible.
I try n have a cuppa soup
A slice of Bread is a good portion control and at 15 net carbs, right on target for a slight hypo.
Remember the protocol of 15 carbs, test in 15 minutes. If still low repeat process.
I like pickled raw veggies
