First you need to decide exactly what scares you.
If its pain there are things to help:-
a thinner/ shorter needle tip for your prefilled pen( via prescription/ pharmacy)
Using an ice cube to numb the area you choose to inject
Not re using your needle tips .
Using an area of your body with underlying fatty tissue. If you are on the skinny side pinch the skin up in the area you choose.and inject into the pinched bit.
Dont use tne same spot to inject into.vary it.
If its technique, practice on an orange.Nurses used to teach people to inject like this.
Try and get used to only using one hand.Grip the pen and press down as you do now with your thumb or your first finger..
If its the whole thing i can only tell you it does get easier. My dog was diabetic long before i was diagnosed and i could not bear to grab her neck scruff to inject, hubs had to do it.Now i inject up to four times a day as well as poking my fingers up to six times to test my glucose levels.
If i can help you only have to say.i have added you to my team.let me know how you get on.Hugs

Great point Kathleenhenry, I started in March with 5 Insulin shots per day and dosages of 30 units long-term insulin and 20 units short term insulin. All of my pin sticks are in my lower abdomen area. Now I'm down to 1 long-term insulin pin stick in the morning(12 units) and hopefully soon off completely. So you can do it, I did and I am not fond of being stuck. But you must do what you have to do.

You can inject all around the lower abdomen.

Injecting in the same place every time will cause hard skin spots

Take one of the needle by itself, while looking, prick your forearm, just to feel what it does and how tiny it is. That is how they taught us at the diabetes clinic. Those needles are even thinner than the ones to test on our fingers. It doesn't hurt at all. Good luck.
