Hello everyone! I have type 2 and have this problem in the night. I wake up at around 2:30 every night. My hands and feet are tingling, ears are ringing and I have a headache. It feels like my breathing has gone very very slow. I’ve been for a sleep apnea test and the Dr says I don’t have it. If I take glucophage it makes it worse so I control my sugar with diet. I’ve struggled to find a Dr that can diagnose this and help with a remedy for it. Does anyone else experience this or know what it… read more

Members shared their experiences with waking up around 2-3 AM with symptoms like tingling hands and feet, headaches, and difficulty returning to sleep, with the original poster discovering through neurology testing that they had a REM sleep disorder successfully treated with trepiline and revitrol combined with glucophage and carb control. Several members recommended practical strategies including checking blood sugar levels during nighttime wakings (as low glucose or dawn phenomenon can trigger symptoms), trying gabapentin for neuropathy-related tingling, using blue light blocking glasses before bed, keeping a detailed sleep journal to identify patterns with food and medication timing, and playing white noise like thunderstorms to aid sleep. A recurring theme was the frustration of managing multiple overlapping issues including neuropathy, blood sugar fluctuations, and disrupted sleep patterns, with many members emphasizing the importance of finding a thorough specialist willing to connect the dots and persistence in tracking symptoms to discover what works for each individual body.

With the feet and hands tingling , maybe you should ask your Dr. about Gabapentin this will help with the feet and hands and maybe the headaches , if that doesn't work do what I said before , smoke a joint !!

Looks like those of you often wake up at night should measure your blood glucose at those times to see if it has anything to do with the cause of the problem.

I use specially tinted glass to block blue light. I bought them on Amazon and they fit over my glasses. I used them when watching TV and using my phone at night.I also have a blue lighter filter app. on my cell.

What is sleep? I get on the average 4hrs sleep a night, and up @ 4am every morning wherever I’m working or not. I’m a type 2, sleep apnea and severed ADHD, so it’s takes me up to 2hrs to get to sleep and when awoken by any distraction no sleep for me. So trying to balance these issues it’s a daily change.
