This comforting, sugar-free tea combines cinnamon and ginger for a warming beverage that's diabetes-friendly. This caffeine-free tea offers a flavorful alternative to sugary drinks and can be enjoyed as part of a balanced meal plan.

  • Medium saucepan
  • Measuring spoons
  • Fine-mesh strainer
  • Heat-safe mugs
  • Sharp knife
  • Cutting board

Ingredients
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (optional)
  • 2 Ceylon cinnamon sticks (3 inches each)
  • 1-inch piece fresh ginger, thinly sliced
  • 2 whole cloves
  • 1 strip orange peel (about 2 inches long)
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 4 teaspoons monk fruit sweetener (optional)
  • Fresh lemon slices for serving

Instructions
  1. Pour water and almond milk (if using) into medium saucepan.
  2. Add cinnamon sticks, sliced ginger, cloves, and orange peel.
  3. Bring mixture to gentle boil over medium-high heat.
  4. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in cardamom.
  6. Let steep for 5 minutes.
  7. Strain tea into mugs.
  8. Add monk fruit sweetener if desired and stir until dissolved.
  9. Serve with fresh lemon slices.
