The problem with ads on Facebook book most are too good to be true and a lot of them lie. Diabetes has a lot of symptoms. I had a diabetic friend that would put herself into diabetic ketoacidosis… read more
There’s some debate on how frequently you should weigh yourself with those that advocate weighing daily and those that think people might get depressed weighing themselves everyday.
I weigh myself every day because I can then do an average weight for the week. The problem with weighing yourself once a week is that the day you weigh yourself might be an unusual result eg heavier than normal or lighter than normal so it won’t give you a good idea of what you actually weigh.
My weight today is… read more
I weigh myself once a week, same day. If I forget, it's two or three weeks. I am only looking for excessive weight loss or gain in case there's something going on that I'm not aware of .
Once again, my Endo offered meds to help me lose weight. I only have 20 more pounds to lose but am struggling mightily. When asked about the toll it would take on my kidneys and liver, he assured me that my kidneys and liver are healthy enough. Maybe I am doing things the hard way. Maybe I should try a med. to make it easier. Maybe I would have to take it for less than 6 months to reach my goal. What have other's experienced, good or bad, about weight loss drugs? Also, I think I already put in… read more
thanks all for your advice/insights!
I've been dancing around my next 10 lb weight loss target for more than 20 days now (over the holidays). I hit my target on 12-19-2022, added 3 pounds back overnight, and have been struggling ever since to meet my target again. I have found that a couple days of intensive workouts have helped me over the hump in the past. I also found that holding off breakfast until a full 12 hours and then eating only a 1/2 C of berries also helps me break through the stubborn weight that doesn't want to be… read more
@A DiabetesTeam Member Thanks for this. It never occurred to me to look for optimal carbs duh! My only excuse is that I’m still in data collection mode.

I go to bed with a reading of 5.4. and I am over the moon with this. Next morning I take a fasting reading and its at 6.8.🤬 My last meal was yesterday's lunch so I am thinking its the dawn phenomenon of increased cortisol thats adding the extra 1.5 mmol/l to my reading. Its seldom that I see it come down at all before I have eaten my breakfast and pretty much I am super hungry by then. After all its been 18 hours. If I dont do the fasting I dont get the evening value down to below 5.8. I have… read more
I have this too 😫 just now posted about it
It's a recurring question - I try this or that but just can't seem to lose weight, what can I do?
Today while working on a presentation for the Diabetes group I work with I was gathering information on something called a "Basil Metabolic Rate" (separate discussion), but basically what a BMR is the number of calories each of us would burn if we simply had a "couch potato" day.
Calculating your BMR will tell you how many calories you need to survive and not look like someone on a hunger strike… read more
@A DiabetesTeam Member thank you😃
This question in one form or other seems to come around again and again.
Weight control is important to Diabetes Management for two reasons.
First off for every point our BMI is above 25, our insulin resistance gets worse.
Second off for every point our BMI is above 25 it puts extra strain on our heart.
Now I'm not going to get into a big discussion about Positive Body Image or Healthy At Any Weight or how some have a Slow Metabolism.
You need to hide those crutches in an unused closet when… read more

I have been told that after having this surgery I would no longer have to treat my diabetes. However I am wondering if I would be trading one set of problems for another. Since I have a weight problem being approved is not a problem, but I prefer to do things as naturally as possible. Some insight would be helpful and appreciated.
Diabetes is caused by your bloods cells a/b
There is no cure by losing weight
