A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone had problems with their throat and mouth while taking Janumet . I would get this ball of phlegm in my throat, and my teeth would ache and now sometimes my mouth will become very very dry and I would get a tin taste or a burning feeling in my mouth.

A DiabetesTeam Member

Been on it for years with no real side effects. One of the lucky ones I guess.

What Did Your BG Do After Skipping A Dose Of Janumet 1000/50
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

I found that I skipped a dose of my Janumet and my BG went to 7.1 mmol the next morning instead of the normal reading of 5.5 mmol - Arise of 1.6 mmol. If you are on Janumet 1000/50 x 2 please share your BG numbers after a missed dose. I would like to determine how high it would go without medication. Could I reduce my medication and compensate with more diet and exercise?

Medication
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi everyone

Just wondering if anyone has feedback about janumet XR. My last fasting was 7.2 A1C 6.6. My former physician had me on 2000 mg of metformin and not concerned.
The new physician concerned and put me on janumet XR. I have read about it and concerned .
Any feedback would be helpful

Honestly not really I have never had issues with metformin just the fact I am on something new. Thanks for asking and all your knowledge you are sharing 😀

Had Anyone Had Success With Adding Januvia To Existing Metformin?
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

My husband was diagnosed several years ago. Had only been on Metformin which kept his numbers under control. Recently his A1C went up to 8.1 Dr has recommended adding 100mg of Januvia once a day. We have a 21 day sample supply. Has anyone had success with adding this drug?

A DiabetesTeam Member

@A DiabetesTeam Member, it depends on what insurance you have. I’m with Ambetter, and my twice daily dose of Janumet, which is Januvia/Metformin combo, costs me $30 a month - my generics are $0.

What Has Been People’s Experience With The Use Of Glyburide?
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have taken Glyburide in the past and within an hour of taking it I would be hypoglycemic. As of the last several years, I have been on Janumet. As of late it didn’t seem to be lowering my blood sugar so I asked my doctor to be put on a low dose of Glyburide (1.25mg) in addition to my Janumet, since I knew it lowered my blood sugar. I now seem to have better control of my blood sugar. It did not cause me to get hypoglycemic but it did make my stomach queasy and made me sleepy. These side… read more
