Humalog Mix 75/25
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am on Humalog 25 Mix and reading that it may cause heart failure ? Is this true ? What are the symptoms to look for ? Cause whenever an ECG is done so far I've been told it is 'clear'. Like, is there a heart attack waiting to happen ? On ECG what is the cause of an alarm ? Is it the excess plaque ? I'm told by my doc that certain amount of plaque should be there. Is there a boundary measure for plaque that should be there ? So confused of different statements being told to me each time that… read more

Weight Gain On Insulin
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone had problems with weight gain on insulin (I take Tresiba)? My doctors said it is an unfortunate side effect of insulin. I work out at the gym 3-4 times a week and still gained weight. Have been watching what I eat and mostly drinking water but still gaining instead of losing or maintaining. Any tips would be appreciated.

Why Is Ozempic Becoming The Most Popularly Prescribed 2nd Tier Treatment For Type 2?
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

You can’t watch a TV show without seeing Ozempic or Rybelsus commercials.

So why the big marketing push?

They both belong to the class called GLP-1 Agonists which include Trulicity and Victoza.

The early versions first hit the market in 2006 (Byetta and Bydureon).

Along the way the effectiveness/utility was improved with Victoza (2010), Trulicity (2014), Ozempic (2017) and finally Rybelsus (2020).

Being so "new" none are available as a generic.

Lows
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

Can anyone suggest how i could help avoid lows in the morning i have not been on insulin but a little over a week since hospital stay and I'm taking strong steroids and have to adjust my medication to my numbers which is very confusing since i have never been on insulin before. Is there a snack or anything to eat before bed to help that or set a clock to check during 2 or 3 in the morning
Any help appreciated I'm very concerned about this and feeling overwhelmed
Thank you

A DiabetesTeam Member

The best thing for lows would be to take a bedtime snack such as I slice toast topped with a rsp of peanut butter. A cup of milj would do tge trucj as well
