Did Anyone Notice That Your Blood Sugar Became Elevated For Several Days After The Covid Vaccine?
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question đź’

I just got my third covid vaccine (booster) on September 9, 2021. Ever since my blood sugar goes up more every day. Today is 14 days since the vacc and my sugar is very high 200-304. It's never like this but I made notes after the other two vaccs which were in March and April and both the vaccines did the same thing to me. Has any of this happened with any of you?

Am I Too Harsh And Lack Compassion?
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question đź’

Most who read my posts become very aware that I don't tend to sugar coat anything.

Maybe that is because I have been dealing with Diabetes my entire life. My Parents, Grandparents, Great-Grandparents, Uncles/Aunts and cousins all have/had diabetes, at least the overwhelming majority of them, so if you are a "normal" member of the family, you likewise have Diabetes.

It didn't mean your life was over. It didn't mean that you life was limited, it was simply a genetic trait no different then… read more

Why Isn't The The Info About The Benefits Of Low Carb Diet For Diabetics, Reaching More People?
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question đź’

It appears that a lot of diabetics are not aware that they need to be limiting their carb intake (in addition to the sugar they eat). I'm not sure what info (if any) new diabetics ARE getting. But believe the "low carb" message is essential. Egads!! My own doc never mentioned it. I only found out from an earlier experience with my diabetic cat. Is the benefit of low carb still being debated? Come to think of it, the DPP class I attended online didn't mention it either????

I Have A Few Questions Actually..
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question đź’

I have a few questions actually.. I love rice and I have seen where Brown rice is better than white for diabetics. Is this true? Same for pasta is whole wheat better than plan? How about fruit is that bad for diabetics? Also Wheat bread is that ok? Some things confuse me and I am a country girl just trying to survive these crazy times we live in and stock pile as much as I possibly can.. Do any of you prep? If so how do you prep and what? I could go on for days with questions but we shall… read more

How Do You Deal With Others (non-diabetics) Eating Your Food?
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question đź’

This is a frequent source of anger brought on by my frustration with knuckleheads. I don’t need anger or anything else negative in my life so I need to turn to y’all here - which I should have done a long time ago. Bear with me, please, I feel like I’m dealing with morons
Y’all know the drill. I’m diabetic. There’s a lot of stuff I can’t eat. I buy what I can eat and I have to share fridges. I find that others eat my food “because it’s healthy”. More often than not I find myself without food… read more

What Is The Secret To Losing Weight And Keeping It Off?
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question đź’

This question in one form or other seems to come around again and again.

Weight control is important to Diabetes Management for two reasons.

First off for every point our BMI is above 25, our insulin resistance gets worse.

Second off for every point our BMI is above 25 it puts extra strain on our heart.

Now I'm not going to get into a big discussion about Positive Body Image or Healthy At Any Weight or how some have a Slow Metabolism.

You need to hide those crutches in an unused closet when… read more
