Would You Change Doctors/specialists
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

So I live in canada and am type 2 diabetic and am thinking of discontinuing with my diabetes specialist. I have to travel over an hour by bus for a 10 minute appointment where even if my A1C's went down a tiny bit i only get "thats still not good Callie". Also she is keeping me metformin and it makes me very stomach sick and begrudgingly let me cut the dose "for now" (She wanted me on 5 metformin I said no and so she went with 4 and when i told her I was always sick to my stomach she "let me"… read more

Januvia?
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was diagnosed with Type 2 a year ago. Doctor started me out on Metformin. In that period of time the dose got up to 2500 once a day, with Victoza added. I was so sick and fatigued I could barely get out of bed everyday. I kept telling my doctor about the fatigue, vomiting, he didn't change my meds. I found another doctor who recognized my adverse reactions to the drugs, and took me off of them.. Now I am on 100 mg of Januvia daily... so far no bad side affects. My AIC is 5.8. Is anyone else on… read more

I just started a low dose of Januvia. That was a big step for me. So far I can tolerate it. My ARNP says it is more tolerable for many of her patients sensitive to other meds. I am not sure what the… read more

Anyone Experience Loss Of Appetite Since Starting Metformin?
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

Since I have reached 2000mg daily I have had no appetite. I have no desire to eat. Food doesn't even taste the same. Sometimes I can force a boost down and sometimes if I get something I really like I can get food down. I don't know what to do? Thanks.

So here's a quick recap of the current popular meds used to treat Type 2 and what they are designed to do.

For a Fasting Blood Sugar issue that is due to your liver which stores/releases blood sugar "when we are not eating/digesting" since our body needs sugar 24/7 to function.

Currently the ONLY oral… read more
