I recommend a raw Vegan diet. The biggest thing to remember is that the liver is an organ that regenerates. My middle son advised me to do this, and it helped a whole lot.

Great question! Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (now more commonly called MASLD) is surprisingly common in people with type 2 diabetes β much more so than in the general population.
Here are some key stats worth knowing:
- Up to 70% of people with type 2 diabetes may have some form of liver disease
- Between 60% and 70% of Show Full Answer
Great question! Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (now more commonly called MASLD) is surprisingly common in people with type 2 diabetes β much more so than in the general population.
Here are some key stats worth knowing:
- Up to 70% of people with type 2 diabetes may have some form of liver disease
- Between 60% and 70% of people with type 2 diabetes live with MASLD specifically
- People with type 2 diabetes are up to 3 times more likely than the general population to develop liver cancer as a result
The strong connection comes down to insulin resistance β a core feature of type 2 diabetes. When cells don't respond well to insulin, blood sugar rises and more fat gets stored in the liver over time. The tricky part is that most people don't even know they have it, since MASLD often has no noticeable symptoms. That's why regular liver screenings are so important when managing diabetes.
The good news? Managing blood sugar levels, eating a fiber-rich diet, and staying active can help protect liver health. Always check with your doctor about screening and next steps.
