Great job staying on top of vaccinations — that's a really important part of managing diabetes! Here are the vaccines generally recommended for people with diabetes:

- Flu shot — yearly
- COVID-19 — stay current with boosters
- Pneumonia vaccine
- Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis)
- Shingles vaccine — for adults over 50
- Hepatitis B vaccine Regarding the shingles vaccine reaction — a swollen, hot, and red arm at the injection site can be a local reaction, which some people do experience. However, it's really important to let your doctor know what happened, especially since you have diabetes.

A few things worth knowing:

- Local reactions like redness, warmth, and swelling can sometimes be normal short-term responses
- However, in people with diabetes, skin reactions and infections can be harder to manage, so it's always worth getting it checked out
- Your doctor may want to monitor future doses or discuss whether any adjustments are needed

Don't skip mentioning this to your care team — they can help decide the safest path forward for any remaining vaccine doses.
