I was on Lyrica a few years ago. It messed with my mindset. Extremely heavy brain fog..I'm being monitored this time.
Before I took it for 10 years. My doctor never monitored me.

You're pharmacist should know that better than your doctor. Everytime I get new meds my doctor has to Google the interactions
My pharmacist always warns me about interactions.
I research also before taking any new meds or supplements.
I do ALA, berberine, fish oil, D3, Jardiance, amlodapine, losartan, Rosuvastatin, hydrogen molecule water.
Berberine makes a noticeable difference in my numbers.
ALA. I feel better with it. It helps me with blood glucose control.
Hydrogen molecule water, seems to help me with blood glucose control.
ALA does work but if you take medications for your thyroid it does interfere with them. A doctor told me to take it and I did only to find I was starting to feel my thyroid meds were off so I did research and the first thing I read was don’t take if you are on thyroid medication. I stopped and things returned to normal. I felt that the dr should have known this since I’ve been on thyroid meds since 2014 since my thyroid cancer.
Thank you for the that @A DiabetesTeam Member I do know the benefits of relieving oxidative stress. I do believe Henry, does take it. Anything that relieves oxidative stress is definitely a benefit.
ALA has a number of great benefits, it's an anti-oxidant and yes, it can help repair nerves IF the source of the damage has been mitigated and it has some limited effect on nerve pain
I believe Henry @A DiabetesTeam Member uses or used it for a while
When it comes to neuropathy and ALA benefits it would need to be used in a specific way for it to "repair anything"
If the patient caught the onset of neuropathy (usually just the pins/needles that start to become chronic) and had a vascular specialist confirm that there is a vascular problem developing due to high sugar;
At that point if the (patient) got absolute control of their blood sugar (A1C consistently under 6.0% and shoot for a Tight Time In Range monitored with a CGM) which would practically arrest the advancement of the neuropathy before significant blood vessel damage/nerve death occur, then the ALA "could" Rehab the condition
But only if the "source" of the damage is completely removed
The big problem with neuropathy is it's usually way past the point of rolling it back by the time the symptoms present - the damage is gone to far for ALA to "fix" by the time you know the problem is there
However, ALA may "help" with the pain and could at least slow down progression of the problem
As a side bonus, ALA can help knock down blood sugar a bit (it improves insulin sensitivity) - so if that is a (problem) with the user, it could make your BG numbers a little better
I tried ALA on two different occassions for 90 day periods and "personally" saw Zero Change in blood sugar, so "I" am probably not experiencing a insulin sensitivity problem that needs addressing - the Supplement had no noticable benefit "For Me"
