So I went to the hospital because my blood sugar was at 895, I was admitted a few days then I come home to it being at 625. What should I do? I've been drinking nothing but water since I've been home and I've been taking my meds like I should. What else can I do.

I agree with diabetesteam
Go back to the hospital and tell them you are not going home until your blood sugars are at an acceptable level. Are you on insulin?
That's right at @A DiabetesTeam Member. I almost forgot that if you are not eating your body goes into fight or flight mode. It thinks you are starving and therefore the liver dumps glucose. Not eating can cause you more harm than good. I just saw those high numbers and it blew my mind that the hospital released him with numbers that high. Dka is no joke
Get to the ER immediately. You need insulin therapy. Your numbers are too high.
Exercise like walking can help. Sip lots of water to keep hydrated.
I know it is counter intuitive but eating at regular times is important too.
Before awakening your body tells your liver to open the glycogen taps to provide stored glucose to aid in wake up activities.
A nondiabetic can handle that glucose by releasing more insulin. And that glucose rise is only momentary.
But for diabetics with our damaged and broken systems. We cannot handle that glucose rise without eating to signal to shut those glycogen taps. Ideal for us is to eat in the 1st half hour. But the 1st hour is still okay.
So eating and waking at regular times makes it easier for our bodies to know our schedules and adjust.
So don't continue your overnight fast just because your numbers are high. That confuses your body into believing it is a time of famine and it keeps releasing glycogen.
It also adjusts your basal metabolism rate to conserve the energy it has available.
So the bottom line is:
Eat when it is time. You can carb restrict if you want to try to help. BUT EAT. Do not fast because your numbers are high.
I told you this would be counter intuitive.
Good luck as you adjust and find your way.
This is a serious situation that needs immediate medical attention. A blood sugar of 625 mg/dL is dangerously high, and going back to the hospital or calling 911 right away is the right move — don't wait on this one.
While at those levels, watch for these warning signs that signal a medical emergency:
