Trypanophobia (fear of needles) are common with children. There are lancing devices with lancets that pricks your finger with less pain and doesn't sting like a bee. I don't remember the brand, but I have them as a backup when my CGM aren't working.

I see a cardiologist myself..I asked him about the energy drinks
He said energy drinks were messing up young adults hearts. He is over 18 and he has been warned about the dangers. He is addicted and me and his brother have tried an intervention for him but nothing works.😪
When I was working RN, in the ER, we had a few young adults come in for drinking Energy drinks. We had to Defib a few of them it was not fun for them. If you want to know more you can ask.
