I recently had a so called doctor reach out to me on a social media platform claiming she could cure T2 diabetes. With a medicine she had made. I blocked her.

If anyone claims they can cure T2 it is a scam. Don't believe them because it's a lie to steal your money.

There is no cure.
Great question.

Good instinct blocking that account! Unfortunately, there is no cure for type 2 diabetes, and anyone claiming otherwise is not being truthful. That kind of outreach is a red flag for a scam. That said, there is genuinely good news. Type 2 diabetes can go into remission, which means blood sugar levels stay in a normal range for at least three months without needing medication. This is different from a cure, but it's a meaningful and achievable goal for many people.

Ways that may help reach remission include:

- Losing weight — even modest weight loss can improve insulin sensitivity
- Low-carbohydrate or low-fat diets — both have shown benefits for blood sugar control
- Regular exercise — helps reduce insulin resistance
- Bariatric surgery — for those who qualify, this can lead to significant blood sugar improvement

Remission is more likely in the earlier stages of diabetes, before the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas become too fatigued. Always work closely with a trusted healthcare team before making any changes to diet, exercise, or medication. Reducing carbs without adjusting medication, for example, could lead to dangerously low blood sugar.
