Is a fasting blood glucose reading better in the 4's or low 5's when you wake up?
A normal fasting blood glucose level is between 70 and 99 mg/dL (or roughly 3.9 to 5.5 mmol/L). Both readings in the 4's and low 5's (in mmol/L) fall within the healthy range for fasting blood sugar.
If you're referring to mmol/L Show Full Answer
For prediabetics 4s are common. Our middle son- nondiabetic, ranges from 3.7 to 5.2.
When I was doing good I occasionally had numbers in the 4s, but 5s were more common.
I am T2 and my fasting blood glucose first thing in the morning is in the range 4.8 to 5.4 mmol/l.

Thank you dear Elizabeth. That makes perfect sense 💕
@A DiabetesTeam Member Yes l personally think so because all what you ate during the day is a result for what you achieved for good performances/bad. The following day BS of 4 -6 is good, 7 is average anything above you've failed. So watch it out
