Well done on lowering your A1C Travers ! 💪🇿🇦
I’ve always been slim and my BMI is low.
When I did weight strengthening exercises with a personal trainer, (pre Covid), my BMI arose significantly.

How can you regain weight after losing 6kg since your diabetes diagnosis while keeping your HbA1c at 5.7?

Congratulations on getting your HbA1c to 5.7 — that's in the healthy range! It's understandable to be concerned about unintended weight loss, especially if you're now below a healthy BMI.

The key is to add calories without spiking your blood sugar levels. Here are some strategies to consider:

Nutrient-Dense Foods:
- Include healthy fats like avocados, nuts, seeds, and olive oil
- Choose protein-rich foods like eggs, fish, poultry, and Greek yogurt
- Add nut butters to snacks
- Incorporate full-fat dairy if tolerated

Eating Patterns:
- Eat more frequently throughout the day (5-6 smaller meals)
- Don't skip meals or snacks
- Add calorie-dense toppings to existing meals

Work With Professionals:
Working with a registered dietitian who specializes in diabetes can be incredibly helpful. They can create a meal plan that helps you gain weight while maintaining good blood sugar control. This is important because you need to balance adding calories without undoing your progress.

Make sure to discuss this with your healthcare provider to rule out other causes of weight loss and ensure your diabetes management plan supports healthy weight gain.
