Always talk to your health care provider before fasting. You shouldn't fast if you are on certain medications like sulfonylreas. Always make sure it's appropriate for you.
I cant say I love fasting. But I introduced it as a lifestyle change and I find it pretty effective. I try to eat in a 6 hour window and fast in 18 hour window low carb. Every now and then I do a 72 hour fast. Over the weekends I generally eat 3 meals normally. I think that the switching it up is better otherwise your body starts to accept the fasting as normal. When I first started the IF together with the low carb diet my fat just fell off. A1c super under control at 4.7% but then the weightloss flattened out and I struggled to loose more weight. Then introduced the 72 hour water fast and that has triggered my weight loss again. I gather its about the metabolic switching.
It definitely helps my glucose control and weight management..
@A DiabetesTeam Member Joyce I never fast. I don't like being hungry.
I donβt check every day They donβt consider me diabetic
I found it helpful. And overtime found I could eat more carbs (not more calories) . I did not loose much just an initial 8-10 lbs. its been a couple of yrs I have been doing it in general more stable.
