I've noticed some of our team members have IBS. I was diagnosed with it 3 years ago. I'm having a flare up. Prescribed Bentyl. I also take a probiotic, ginger and peppermint oil helps. Ginger is nature's remedy for gut health.

Members explored whether there is a connection between IBS and diabetes, with several sharing their personal experience that the two conditions seem related, possibly due to diabetes damaging gut nerves over time and both diseases being worsened by inflammation. Many community members described practical strategies that have helped manage their IBS symptoms, including avoiding fried or fatty foods, eating fermented vegetables like sauerkraut, taking probiotics, drinking ginger or peppermint tea, keeping a food journal to track flare-ups, and being cautious with sugar substitutes that can act as laxatives. A recurring theme was finding what works for your individual body through trial and error, with ginger emerging as a popular natural remedy for gut health, though one member noted it can negatively affect other conditions like heart failure.

Yes, sauerkraut helps. I love sauerkraut. Diabetes over time can damage gut nerves. I'm going to start taking a prebiotic, also.

I don't have IBS. I take 2 Metamucil probiotic gummies each morning to keep me regular. Occasionally I will get some diarrhea from drinking too much zero sugar soda as the substitute sweetener often acts like a laxative with me.
