And if you choose to test in the Morning (Fasting Blood Sugar) you need to test before you eat, drink, smoke or even brush your teeth - it should be the first thing you do as soon as you get up for the most accurate measure of fasting sugar levels

There are two main ways to test morning glucose levels:

1. Traditional glucose meter with test strips:
- Use a lancet to prick your fingertip
- Place blood drop on test strip
- Insert strip into meter
- Get results within seconds

This method is quick, accurate, and provides reliable results for most people. 2. Continuous Show Full Answer

- Wearable device that measures glucose constantly
- Uploads readings to your phone
- Sends real-time alerts for high/low blood sugar
- Requires changing sensors every 7-14 days

While CGMs can be more expensive without insurance, they provide comprehensive tracking and may be more effective for long-term diabetes management. However, it's recommended to occasionally verify CGM readings with traditional test strips since CGMs can sometimes give inaccurate information.
