@A DiabetesTeam Member From time to time my ankles and feet tend to swell. Also, I have vericose veins so sometimes I wear compression socks which can feel very comfortable as long as you have the right size. Along with getting back to a proper diet the swelling does recede, Geralyn.

How can I manage cold feet and poor circulation with diabetes?

Poor circulation from diabetes can cause cold feet and changes in skin color. This happens because high blood sugar levels can damage blood vessels over time, reducing blood flow to the feet and legs. Here are key steps to manage circulation issues:

• Check feet daily for any changes, especially after showering
• Keep feet warm with proper socks
• Stay active to promote blood flow
• See a foot care specialist regularly, especially if you're high-risk
• Consider compression stockings (discuss with your healthcare provider first)
• Monitor blood sugar levels carefully

If you notice severe swelling, pain, or changes in skin color, contact your healthcare provider immediately.

They're quite comfortable, Geralyn. Your doctor can prescribe the right size and advise you. Good luck with that.
