@A DiabetesTeam Member that would be a question for whatever you call your Health Ministry - they would make those rules

In Ontario a Doctor doesn't have to write you a prescription - no "legal" requirement, but if they do they are required to follow up during the course of the prescription - when it runs out they could put any condition on it they want - blood test, x-raw, whatever - before they "renew" the prescription because they are responsible for ensuring there is a valid reason for the prescription

(and just for me that sounds like a reasonable explanation as to why and perhaps there is simply "no allowance" in the law/regulation for a "patient" to waiver that medical oversight)

Hi GrahamLamb...loved reading your explanation.
When I did my last hike of 600 miles between France and the end of Spain, I got sick.
The doctors over there they don't write prescription. Voltaren was $4.00 only and since I ran out of Berberine in my last 50 miles, I had to get metformin 850 MG and had to cut it in 1/4 it was hard since I am allergic to it.
But the doctors over there are naturalist, holistic everything it's awesome 👌. Have a blessed night 🙏.

Hi LegeFrank...I live in the USA, so don't know anything about the UK.
I hope you can find your answers.
In my case I'm allergic to lots of medications, so I take lots of supplements.
For my diabetes I take Throne Berberine 200 MG, ceylon cinnamon, turmeric, and others.
My doctor knows that I take a supplement for diabetes for 18 years; so I have no problems having my bloodwork done, A1C, my kidneys, etc.

I’m thinking of going back on Berberine.

I’ve started taking Black Onion Seed oil but too early to say if it’s effective. It’s very strong so care needs to be taken.

@ GrahamLamb Sounds like control freakery to me. I will offer to sign a waiver if they want. Or failing that if they give a guarantee that they won’t replace my excellent Gliclazide with something else then I’ll take the blood test.

Refusing me my meds could be viewed as a sentence of death. No doubt that would please them as old people over here are regarded as a liability and strain on the health service.

In any case we are not the customers of the health service - we are the product and the government is the customer and they decide how we should be treated.

Is it any wonder that the Assisted Suicide Bill was passed - a Godsend for the National Health Service!
